Michael James Myers (Mike) was born on October 30, 1954 in Margaretville, the fourth son of William Henry and Mary Jane (Moran) Myers. He was known by all for his unfailing generosity and his strong work ethic. He is a veteran of the US Marine Corp during the VietNam War years, and took an active role in the evacuation of Saigon. He worked for thirty years until his retirement as the Village Superintendent for Fleischmanns. He also was a volunteer firefighter with the Fleischmanns Fire Department and was privileged to serve as fire chief on two separate occasions. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, hunting, skiing and fishing. He was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved to cruise the byways of the Catskills. Most importantly Mike was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. After years of successfully providing for and protecting his family, Mike passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 18, 2019. He is loved and will be missed by many. His kind, gentle soul and loving memory will live on in our hearts and minds forever.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Cherie. His daughters: Sarah Myers and Jamie (Sean) Murphy. His brothers: Patrick and Fredrick Myers. His grandchildren: Joseph Feld, Gabriella Myers-Bonner and Simeon Murphy, and his four-legged friends Delilah and Princess. He was predeceased by his parents William Henry and Mary Jane Myers and brothers William, Andrew and Thomas Myers.
A service to celebrate the life of Mike will be held at a future date.
