Kingston-
Norma L. Hughson, 79, of Boulevard died suddenly at the Kingston Hospital emergency department on July 8, 2018 the day before her birthday. She was born July 9, 1938 in Halcott Center, NY daughter of the late Charles and Helen Grant Ballard. A Kingston area resident since 1979, Norma had previously worked at the Ruby Hot Shoppe on the Thruway, and also at Ametek Rotron in Woodstock. She was a talented crocheter, and loved her grandchildren. She was always there for others, and had one of the most giving hearts.
Surviving are her husband Larry G. Hughson an in patient at Castle Point VA Medical Center, her children: Larry (Jessica) of Kerhonkson, Gary of Kingston, Roy of Stone Ridge, Daniel Fenton of VA, Beth (Ed) Gaddy of Saugerties. Sisters: Jean McCann of Fleischmanns and Mildred Muller. 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her daughter: Barbara Finch in 2003, and by her siblings: Robert and Pete Ballard, Audrey Fields, Harriet and Doris Lucas. She also leaves behind her four-legged companion Duke.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Norma will be held on Friday at 12 noon at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia with Fr. Raphael Iannone as celebrant. Burial in the family plot at the Shandaken Rural Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 7-9pm and on Friday from 10 am to 12 noon service time at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home.
