     William J. Schultz, 74, of VanLoan Road died Thursday July 19, 2018 at the Kingston Hospital of cancer . as a result of Agent Orange exposure.  He had also been challenged by the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.  He was born April 18, 1944 in Englewood, NJ son of the late Frank and Lillian Ruth Brown Schultz.   Bill was a United States Navy veteran having served from 1963 to 1967 and awarded the:Expert Rifle Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the National Defense Service Medal.  His service to his country did not end there, he was a member of the Phoenicia American Legion Post #950 of Phoenicia.    He was an area resident for the past thirty-five years, and had been a self-employed building contractor and carpenter.  He had an appreciation of nature, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting ,fishing, and building bird houses.

     Surviving are his wife Leona VanLoan Schultz and her children: Anna Lee and Michael Laurence.  A sister: Lillian Umsteatt and her husband Chester of NJ.  He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur and Robert Schultz.

     A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Saturday July 28 at 2pm at Leona's home at 12 VanLoan Road.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Shandaken Ambulance Squad.  You may share a special memory or condolence with the family on Bill's Tribute Wall at gormleyfuneralhome.com.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the E.
