Alida M Bloodgood

     Alida M. Bloodgood, 79  of West Kill passed away peacefully Monday February 28, 2022 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford, NY.  She was born August 2, 1942 daughter of the late George and Mary Ida Helin Cartwright.  Alida was a lifelong resident of the Town of Lexington.  She valued her sense of community and heritage.  She served as Lexington Deputy Town Clerk for thirty-five years, Town Genealogist, charter and life member of the Town of Lexington Historical Society, member and secretary of the Town of Lexington Rescue Squad, member and past president of the Town of Lexington Fire Auxiliary, and member of the Hardenburg chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was a cosmetologist and beauty school graduate.  Alida appreciated the beauty of nature, and had a green thumb as she tended her flower and vegetable gardens.  She even enjoyed time spent mowing the lawn.  In her spare time, she was and avid reader, and a talented cook and baker, known for her legendary coleslaw and snickerdoodles!  Alida was generous, kind, a great friend, the best grandmother having spent a lot of time with her granddaughter, loving wife and mother who above all loved her family, and her great grandson Bentley who was her pride and joy.

     Surviving are her husband of 56 years Kenneth, granddaughter Jamie Rizzo and husband Vincent Rizzo, great grandson Bentley, daughter-in-law Lin Bloodgood, and godson Frank Helin.  She was predeceased by her sons Billy Bloodgood in 1981and Brian Bloodgood in 2013.

     A Vigil Service will be held on Thursday March 3rd at 5:30pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia with Fr. Tom Kiely officiating.  Friends will be received on Thursday from 3pm to 6pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia Greene Co.
