Ann Wolfe Obituary

Phoenicia-

Ann E. Wolfe, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully at her home in Phoenicia, NY, on December 1, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on April 4, 1955, in Little Rock, AR, Ann's early years were filled with the rich experiences of Southern life, which she fondly revisited throughout her lifetime.

Ann's journey was one marked by curiosity and a love for culture. As a young woman, she ventured abroad as an exchange student to Spain, where she became fluent in Spanish—a skill that would serve her well in her love for travel and understanding different cultures. Her musical talents shone brightly as she played the piano and lent her beautiful voice to the Retreat Singers youth choir, enchanting audiences both at home and during their travels.

Education was a cornerstone of Ann's life, and she pursued her studies at Hendrix College in Conway, AR, where she further developed her intellect and passions. It was in Ulster County, however, that Ann's heart found its truest companion. She met Lanny, the love of her life, and together they embarked on a 32-year journey filled with music, laughter, and the joy of shared experiences with family and friends.

Ann's love story with Lanny was one of devotion and compassion, especially evident when Lanny suffered a stroke. Ann, ever the caring and loving partner, dedicated herself to his care with unwavering commitment—a testament to her generous spirit and the depth of her love.

Her passions were many and varied. Ann was an avid follower of politics, always ready to engage in thoughtful discussion or plan her next adventure. The mountains and the beach were her sanctuaries, places where she found peace and inspiration. In the kitchen, Ann's culinary talents were a source of delight for all who were lucky enough to taste her cooking and baking, especially her delectable sweets.

Ann's love for animals was profound, and she shared a special bond with her kitty, Gracie, who, along with many others, will sorely miss her gentle presence.

Ann's legacy is carried on by her loving daughter, Jeanette Wolfe, and her husband, Payton Wolfe, of Bearsville, NY. She is also survived by her brothers, John Toney, Jr. of Little Rock, AR, and George Toney of Charlottesville, VA; her sister, Laura Hinze (Clif) of Little Rock, AR; and her nieces and nephews: Brooks, Katherine, Morgan, Griffin, JD, Bonnie, and Lee.

Ann now joins her beloved husband, Lanny Wolfe, her parents, John D. and Mary R. Toney, and her sister, Katie Barnett, in eternal rest. Her family finds solace in the knowledge that she is reunited with her loved ones and that her spirit continues to guide and inspire them.

A memorial service to celebrate Ann's life will be held on Friday, December 12th, at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St., Phoenicia at 12 noon. Ann's memory will be cherished, and her life celebrated as the gift that it was to all who knew her.
