BRETT BAUMANN

Brett Baumann passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2025, from a heart attack while on a vacation with his beloved wife, brother and sister-in-law aboard a Caribbean cruise. Born on June 4, 1960, in Westwood, New Jersey, Brett's zest for life and infectious laughter touched all who knew him.  Brett's journey through life was one marked by dedication and joy. After retiring from a 20-year career with the Ulster County Highway Department, he remained a familiar and friendly face within his community. His commitment to public service was further exemplified by his years as a member of the Olive Fire Department, where his sense of humor and camaraderie were as much a part of him as his uniform.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Brett will remember him as a fun-loving individual who never missed an opportunity to share a joke with friends and family. His presence was a source of constant warmth and laughter, whether he was hosting gatherings by the pool or discussing his favorite country music artists.  Brett's love for his wife, Darlene Baumann of West Shokan, was evident to all. Together, they created countless memories, many of which were spent boating along the Hudson River. Brett was a fixture at Shady Harbor Marina in New Baltimore, NY, where his weekends were filled with joy and companionship. His presence on the docks, simply enjoying the company of friends will be sorely missed.  In addition to his wife, Brett leaves behind a loving family, including his father, Robert Baumann Sr., his brothers, Robert (Maureen) Baumann Jr. of Warwick, NY and Russell (Debbie) Baumann of New Hampton, NY. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews: Melissa Baumann, Tracy Fonte, Crystal Baumann, Brady Jones, and Brianna Boland, who will hold dear their memories of his kindness and playful spirit. Brett was predeceased by his mother Joan Goodell Baumann, whose legacy of love and family he carried forward every day.

Brett's life was one of genuine friendship and love. He was the kind of person who made every moment count, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the fortune to cross his path. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and the stories of his life will continue to inspire laughter and joy, just as he would have wanted.  As we bid farewell to Brett Baumann, we reflect on a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His journey may have ended far too soon, but the memories he created will forever sail on the tides of our hearts. Brett, you were a true friend, a loving husband, and a beacon of happiness.
