Barbara Parete Obituary

Boiceville-

Barbara Rose Parete, a cherished matriarch and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, in Westchester. Born on August 9, 1943, in the Bronx, Barbara's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, her love for her community, and her entrepreneurial spirit.

Barbara, affectionately known by all as simply Barbara, was the proud daughter of the late Peter and Adele Troglio Tosi Sr. She grew up in a loving home that would set the foundation for the incredible life she would lead. A lifelong resident of Boiceville, she was a proud alumnae of Onteora Central Schools, graduating with the class of 1960. It was there that she formed lifelong friendships and a deep connection to her roots that she would carry with her throughout her life.

In a loving partnership that would span six decades, Barbara married her soulmate, John Parete. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising a family. Barbara's legacy lives on through her devoted husband, John, and their children: Patricia (Boyd) Vaughn, John Parete, Richard (Colleen) Parete, and Robert (Nicole) Parete.  A cousin Sondra Ostoyich of Saugerties. She was predeceased by her brother Pete Tosi.  She was a beacon of light and guidance to her adoring grandchildren Kirstyn, Victoria, Andrew, Lauren, Erin, Isabella, Emilia, and Sophia, who lovingly referred to her as "Nanny."

Barbara's sister-in-law, Patricia Tosi, nephew Michael, and niece Allison, along with many other beloved family members, will fondly remember her nurturing presence. Her ability to make each person feel special and loved was one of her many gifts.

For over 50 years, Barbara and her husband John owned and operated the Boiceville Inn, a local establishment that became a cornerstone of the community. Barbara's warmth and hospitality made the inn more than just a business; it was a place where people came together, shared stories, and created memories. Her knack for making everyone feel at home was unmatched, and her presence at the inn will be deeply missed.

Barbara's love for her community was evident in everything she did. She was involved in and supported numerous community activities, always eager to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her dedication to others was a true reflection of her generous spirit.

A matriarch in every sense of the word, Barbara's home was the heart of family gatherings. She relished in hosting and ensuring that every occasion was filled with joy and abundance. Her ability to bring people together was one of her greatest talents, and the memories created during these times will be cherished forever.

Barbara's interests extended beyond her entrepreneurial and community endeavors. She enjoyed family trips to Cape Cod, where she could be found soaking up the sun, playing in the sand with her grandchildren, or simply enjoying the company of her loved ones. These moments were precious to her and will be held dear by those who shared them with her.

Barbara's life was one of selfless love and unwavering commitment to those she held dear. She cared deeply about her community and family, always putting others first. Her impact on the lives she touched is immeasurable, and her absence will be felt by many.

Barbara Rose Parete will be missed dearly and always remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the love she gave so freely. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say goodbye to this extraordinary woman, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy will endure through the beautiful family she nurtured and the community she so passionately served.
