Diane Pushman Strausser

Diane Pushman Strausser, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love and joy,
passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Margaretville. Born on April
7, 1937, in Newburgh, Diane's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit
and the deep bonds she formed throughout her years. She was a lifetime
resident of the Catskill Mountains, where she cultivated a legacy of warmth,
hospitality, and community involvement.
Predeceased by her parents, Pierre and Marguerite Sniffen Myers, Diane also
bore the loss of her first husband, Robert Pushman, in 1987, and her second
husband, Don Strausser, in 2021. Her resilience and strength were as evident
as her compassionate heart. Diane's brother, Billy (Pat) Myers, remains to
honor her memory, alongside her beloved children, Max (Cheryl) Pushman,
Michael Pushman, Billy (Shari) Pushman, Lynne Bloodgood, and MaryGail
(Stanley) Sutton. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "Grammy," and
several nieces and nephews who also survive her. Diane was predeceased by
her daughter-in-law, Bertha "Bootie" Pushman, and siblings James and Pierre
Myers and Patty Rasmussen.
Diane's life was marked by her dedication to her community and her faith. As
past president of the Lexington Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, she demonstrated
her commitment to service and leadership. A former parishioner of the St.
Francis de Sales Church, Diane often attended services at the Allaben
church, embodying the Christian values of love and charity that she held dear.
Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. Diane's love for travel took
her across the United States, experiencing the rich tapestry of American life.
She found joy in the camaraderie of square dancing with friends and regularly
accompanied her husband Donald, who played in Hilton and Stella Kelly's
band, The Sidekicks. Known for indulging her grandchildren with ice cream
treats, Diane's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Her green thumb
brought beauty to the world through her flower garden, and her meticulously
clean home was a reflection of her attention to detail and pride in her
surroundings. Diane's preference for the color red was more than an aesthetic
choice; it symbolized her passion for life and the love she shared with all who
knew her.
Diane Pushman Strausser's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love,
service, and the joy of simple pleasures. Her memory will be cherished, and
her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have felt
her warmth and generosity. A service will be held on Monday at 11 am at the

E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia with Fr. Tom Wilhelm as
celebrant.  Burial in the West kill Cemetery.  Friends will be received on
Sunday from 5 to 8pm at the Funeral home.  Memorial donations may be
