WOODSTOCK..... Duncan D. Wilson, 96, of Forest Dr. died Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at his residence. Born March 21, 1925 in Yonkers he was the son of the late Harry and Williamina Wilson. A veteran of World War II he served in the US Army and later was employed by IBM for 30 years years. During Employment at IBM he served on the Fire Brigade (Lieutenant and Captain), the Hazmat Response Team (Captain) and Confined Space Rescue Team (member).
Active in the volunteer fire service he was a 64 year member of the Woodstock Fire Co. where he held every line office including Chief of the Woodstock Fire Co. He was the Ulster County Deputy Fire & Emergency Coordinator (1969-1990) and Fire & Emergency Coordinator for (1991-1995). He was a member of the Ulster County Arson Task Force, the Ulster County Fire Advisory Board, Ulster County Ambulance Association, Ulster County Emergency Medical Services Council, Advanced Life Support Committee of Kingston & Benedictine Hospitals, Medical Advisory Committee of Kingston & Benedictine Hospitals, past director of the Hudson Valley Fireman's Assoc., a member of FASNY, the Ulster County Volunteer Firemen’s Association and honorary member of the Saugerties Exempts Fireman's Association.
In addition to his volunteer fire service, Duncan was on the Board of Directors for the Woodstock Little League (1964-1969) and served as an umpire (1964-1972), served as a Firemanship and First Aid merit badge Counselor for the Woodstock Boy Scout Troop, Woodstock Senior Citizens (Vice President), the Golden Cheer Club (Christmas gifts for seniors) and The Christmas Eve Program on the Village Green.
Duncan received numerous awards throughout his career including the Alf Evers volunteer award in 2006.
Survivors include a son, Bruce (Cathleen) Wilson, seven grandchildren: Ryan, Heather, Natasha, John, JR, Vanessa, Rebekkah and a great grandchild, Dominque. He was predeceased by his children, Sheila Phelan and Robert Wilson and a brother, Harold Wilson and his first wife, Dolores and second, Faye.
His Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, Main St., Phoenicia. Interment will follow with firematic honors in the Woodstock Cemetery.
