Edward Reilley Sr. Obituary

Woodland Valley-

Edward Reilley Sr.,  passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024, at the age of 91 in Hyde Park. Born on February 26, 1933, in Kingston, he was the son of the late Bart and Elizabeth Wenzel Reilley. Edward lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep appreciation for the natural world around him.  His journey began as a young man when he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, Edward embarked on a thirty-year career as a truck driver with the Teamsters Local #445 of Newburgh. His hard work and commitment to his profession were evident to all who knew him.

In his personal life, Edward was a devoted husband to his late wife, Kathleen Reilley, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage until her passing in 2022. Together, they built a loving home and raised a family that included their son, Edward Reilley Jr., and daughter, Diana Barnes. Edward was a supportive father-in-law to Mary Prusack Jaworski and Jim Barnes, and his legacy continues through his family's accomplishments and endeavors.

Edward's siblings, Frank Reilley, Margie Watell, and Mary Bean, will remember him fondly, as will his several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Bart, Philly, Joe, Billy Reilley, Betty Craig, Alice Bell, and Katie Williams, who all held special places in his heart.

A man of many interests, Edward was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #970 of Port Ewen. His love for nature was profound, and he found great joy in the Catskill Mountains, where he made his home for over three decades. Edward's passion for the outdoors was reflected in the meticulous care he took in landscaping around the family property, creating a haven for his family and a sanctuary for local wildlife.  Edward's life was a testament to the values of loyalty, perseverance, and love for one's family. His stories, laughter, and wisdom will live on in the memories of his loved ones.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Hudson Valley Hospice caregivers who supported Edward during his final days. Their compassion and care provided comfort and solace to Edward and his loved ones.  Memorial contributions may be made to www.hvhospice.org  You may share a special memory, photo, or condolence with the family on his Tribute Wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com  Arrangements under the direction of the E.
