Ellen “Ellie” Shultis (née Prochaska), age 86, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025. Born on February 26, 1939, in Queens, New York, Ellen lived a life marked by warmth and quiet strength. Over the years, she became known to those around her as a kind, caring and sweet soul who fiercely loved her family and many friends. Whether through quiet acts of kindness or the simple joy she found in caring for her animals, Ellen brought comfort and light into the lives of others.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert A. Shultis Jr. They built a life filled with enduring love and mutual support. Together they raised three children: Robert A. Shultis III and his wife Carla; Steven M. Shultis and his wife Donna; and their late daughter Cindy Lynne Shultis, whose memory remained close to Ellie’s heart throughout her life. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Brittany Myers and her husband Adam, Corinne Monaco and her husband Marty, and Megan Shultis and her significant other Troy O’Connor—as well as her great-grandchildren Logan Shultis and Azaria Myers. Each of them brought immense joy to Ellie’s life, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness. She is also survived by her brother Earl Prochaska; sister Louise Bolter and husband Lou; as well as many nieces and nephews. All of which would say that Ellie was one of a kind! She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Dorothy Prochaska; her daughter Cindy Lynne Shultis; her in-laws Robert and Margaret Shultis Sr.; and her sisters Annie Nissen and Evie Bennett. May her memory bring peace and solace to those who knew and loved her.
A Graveside Service will be held on June 5, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Tongore Cemetery Route 213.
