Shokan-
Gerard Maki, 54 of Shokan died Sunday April 4, 2021 at his residence. He was born December 20, 1966 in Albany son of Charles Maki and Earla Rycroft VanKleeck. Jerry attended school in Kingston, and graduated Onteora High School Class of '85. He worked construction for D & B Enterprises and then for Local 17 of Newburgh. He enjoyed the outdoors especially skiing, snow mobiling, and jet skiing. He was a avid fisherman both fresh and salt water. He enjoyed exploring his culinary talents in the kitchen. Jerry had a genuine sense of community. He had a generous heart, and could never say 'no' to anyone.
Surviving are his wife Katherine Lamm Maki of Shokan, father Charles Maki of Hyde Park, mother Earla VanKleeck and her husband Donald of Boiceville. His daughters: Monroe and Ava, brother: Chuck Maki of Wappinger Falls, stepsiblings: Robert VanKleeck, Debby Gale, and Jill VanKleeck, and niece Samantha Smith.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at the family plot at 11am at the Bushkill Cemetery, West Shokan. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-7pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Olive First Aid Squad.
