Lanesville-
Helen I. Cammardella, 82, of Lanesville died Monday May 1, 2023 at the Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston. She was born Nov. 13, 1940 in Manhattan daughter of the late Louis and Sophie Pfeil Schlager. Helen had a varied employment over the years, most recently as Office Manager for Daniel Gagnon CPA in Phoenicia. An area resident since the 1970's Helen was an active parishioner of the St. Francis de Sales Parish and the Sodality of Our Lady of LaSalette. For several years she taught the CCD classes and was fondly known to many as "Mrs. C." She enjoyed collecting angel figurines, and was a voracious reader. Above all else, Helen was matriarch of the family, hosted decades of holiday gatherings, and was fondly called 'Gramme' by her grandchildren.
Surviving are her son John (Karen) Malloy of Mt. Tremper, daughters: Laura (Andrew) VanGlad of Stamford, and Linda Karpovich of Bloomville, cousin Peggy (John) Kolowicz, S-I-L Pat Schlager, grandchildren: Timothy, Nicole (Tom) , Alison, Jessica, Victoria, Patricia, Spencer, and Josie. She was predeceased by her husbands John Malloy, and Victor Cammardella, and siblings: Dorothy Culligan, Ted and Mickey Schlager.
Her funeral procession will form on Tuesday at 10:30am at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia, thence to the St. Francis de Sales Church where at 11am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial in the family plot at the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery Rt. 28 Allaben. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home.
