Joan Klaessig

Joan L. Klaessig, 90, of Bearsville passed peacefully at Mountainside Residential Care in Margaretville, NY on December 14, 2020.  She was born in Kingston on Aug. 16, 1930 daughter of the late Allen (Butch) and Beatrice (Fitzsimmons) Yager.  She graduated Kingston High School Class of 1948.  As matriarch, her family was paramount, and the focus of her love and attention.  She valued  the sense of community, and was a loyal friend.  Joan enjoyed flower gardening, scoping out yard sales, and caring for animals.  She formerly was a member of the Woodstock Ladies Auxillary, Co. #1. 

Surviving are her daughters Sonja (Mark ) Turner, Suzanne Klaessig, and son Karl (Rachael) Klaessig, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.  She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years Ben Klaessig, and sister Dorothy Gardner.  

Mindful of current restrictions, a funeral service to honor and respect Joan will be held privately at the E. B.
