John W. Hayes

    John W. Hayes, 75 of Rt. 214 Lanesville died Tuesday March 9, 2021 at the Albany Medical Center, as a result of a massive stroke.  He was born May 8,1945 in Sidney, Nova Scotia, Canada.  He immigrated to the United States in 1963, and honorably served in the US Army from 1966 to 1972.  He has been an area resident since 2017 having formerly made his home in Saddlebrook, NJ   Jack was a Service Advisor in the automotive industry, having worked for various manufacturers.  He was a NASCAR enthusiast, and had served his community as a former member of the Kiwanis Club.  Jack had an appreciation for nature, as evidenced by his “country home” in the Catskill Mountains  He enjoyed hunting, salt water fishing, and most everything outdoors.  

Surviving are his wife Susan Owens Hayes, two sons: Michael (Grissette) Hayes, and Patrick Hayes.  A brother Leo Bellefontaine, sister Kathleen Campbell, Mother-in-law Dorothy Mania, brother-in-law Keith Owens, 3 nieces and several cousins also survive. 

     A gathering to honor and respect Jack will be at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held privately on Saturday at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia  You may share a special memory or condolence on Jack’s Tribute Wall at gormleyfuneralhome.com
