Joshua Luborsky Obituary

Mt. Tremper-

Joshua S. Luborsky, 57 of Mt. Tremper died Tuesday November 23, 2021.  He was surrounded by his family. He was born in Washington, DC on October 10, 1964 son of the late Samuel Luborsky and Penny Hunn Luborsky Wechsler.

Josh was a warm and generous soul, who loved his family dearly, and was always willing to help someone in need.  Josh was an outgoing, funny, caring, honest and genuine human being. His quick wit and enthusiasm would put a smile on anyone’s face. He could tell tales on any subject you could think of and had the gift of making people feel comfortable in any situation.  He had stories of his travels through Europe and Israel that he loved to share. Josh came from a restaurant background and loved everything about food, drink and hospitality.  He moved from his home in Maryland to Ulster County New York in 1994 to join his “brother from another mother” Dan at the Hasbrouck House in Stone Ridge.  Josh became a realtor in 1997 and worked as an associate broker with Win Morrison Realty in Phoenicia.  Josh loved helping his clients and developed long lasting friendships with most.  Josh was all about sustainable living and enjoyed building things that he needed, with local materials, being keen on the practice of 'recycle, reuse and reduce'. He built a mini farm where he loved raising his goats and chickens.  Vacationing at his family home in Chincoteague, VA provided annual opportunities for loads of memory making, which Josh held paramount. He had a great appreciation of nature, enjoyed hikes, bike riding and time outdoors. Josh loved music of all kinds, from Jimi Hendrix to Pete Seeger.  He loved to play guitar and sing folk songs by an open fire with a good IPA. An avid Trekkie, he had an amazing way of bringing every conversation back to Star Trek in some capacity. Josh always desired a better world full of peace, love and understanding.

Surviving in addition to his mother Penny are his wife Lisa and three sons: Aaron, Eli, and Ian. daughter Sabrina, Two sisters Susan and Barbara, Brothers in Law Charlie, Jake and David, Sisters in Law Renee and Rachael, Mother-in-Law Kathleen, Niece Elsa and Nephews Sam, Austin, Dillon, Nate, Pat and Nick.

In addition to his family, Josh loved his friends, all of them that he met through the years.  He was loved and will be missed by many.

Arrangements are under the direction of the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia.  You may share a special memory or condolence with the family on Joshua's Tribute Wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com
