Pine Hill-
On the evening of August 26, 2023, Kathleen "Kitten" Myers, 56, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. After a tragically short and unexpected but valiant, noble, and fierce battle with Cancer.
Kathleen was born in Kingston NY, on March 30, 1967 to Robert C. Myers Sr and Joann M. Myers nee Sandt. Though Kathleen was the second to youngest of many children, she wasted no time in working her way up to a powerful, compassionate, loving Matriarchal figure to many generations in this family that followed, as the Myers clan has always loved their Kitten, and so has her community. Kathleen is survived by her brother Eric M. Myers (Mary) of Yatesville PA. Her sister Tina Myers (Thaddeus) of Roanoke, VA. Her partner, James A. Wilson of Pine Hill NY. Her 2 children, Jesse J. Wilson of Pine Hill, NY and Deborah A. Aversano (Michael) of Dallas, GA with 2 grandchildren, Aniello and Clara Aversano. Kathleen is predeceased by her parents Robert, Joann and Linda Myers nee Wurzburg, and her brothers Christopher A. Myers, and Robert C. "Burf," Myers Jr. Kathleen was a lover of her family, her friends, her community, nature, her predominantly Maliseet Native American heritage, and downright everything. A talented individual on many subjects including cooking, knowledge of Native American Culture, poetry, and Home Health Care. Her claim to local fame was as the director of the Shandaken Historical Museum for the past 11 years. Kathleen brought a unique and beautiful charisma and passion to the Museum. Giving enthusiastic tours that showcased a trifecta of vast, esoteric knowledge of Shandaken's History, a zany and clever sense of humor, and an intense love for what she was doing. Whether it was spending time with her family and friends, or giving to her community. Shandaken and all neighboring local communities remember their Kitten as a kind, loving, intelligent, wise, and truly beautiful woman. We all began to miss her before she was even gone.
A service will be held in Kathleen's honor at the Shandaken Historical Museum, October 7, 2023 at 1pm. Looking forward to putting together something wonderful for a truly wonderful person,
Memorial arrangements are under the direction of the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main Street Phoenicia. You may share a special memory, photo, or condolence with the family on Kathleen's tribute wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com
