Kevin F Scanlan, 65 of West Shokan died Thursday June 2, 2022 at the Kingston Hospital Hospice Unit.   He was born April 8, 1957 in Queens, son of the late Edward and Cecelia Murphy Scanlan.  A graduate of Onteora High School, he was a graduate of Dutchess County Community College.  Kevin had a great sense of community, and was active as a Town of Olive Republican Chairman, and a former Olive Fire Department member.   He had been a league bowler, captain of the softball team, and enjoyed time on the links.  He coached Olive Little League and also sponsored various little league, soccer and softball teams.  Kevin was an avid live concert attendee who cherished the time he spent with his son Michael at various venues.  He was a 40 year member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, and a member of the North East Lumberman’s Association. Kevin served as an altar boy, and later had been a lector at St. Augustine’s Chapel for decades.  He is best known as President of the Singer-Denman Lumber Co. in Boiceville, and later the owner of the Subway franchise in Boiceville.  Kevin was a great conversationalist, who was always glad to discuss the NY Mets or the NY Giants!

     Surviving are his son Michael Scanlan of Kingston, sisters: Cecelia Scanlan-Williams, Siobhan Scanlan, and Maura Scanlan and her husband Brent Forman of WA.  Nieces & nephews: Briana Williams, Evan Puccini Scanlan, Trey Forman, Colin Forman, and former wife Susan Baker Scanlan.  

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday July 9, 2022 at 11am at St. Augustine's Chapel in  West Shokan with Fr. Ed Stewart as celebrant.  Burial in the family plot at the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery Shandaken.  Arrangements are under the direction of the E. B.
