Mount Tremper-
Lynne Byron, a cherished matriarch, devoted nurse, and pillar of the community, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024, in Rhinebeck. Born on February 18, 1950, in Hempstead, NY, Lynne was the loving daughter of the late Charles and Lois Hafner Newfield. She brought joy and warmth to the lives of all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Lynne's life was marked by her dedication to her family, her career, and her community. She was the beloved wife of Theodore "Ted" Byron, and together they raised three wonderful children: Christopher of SC, Teddy of Mt. Tremper, and Melissa Conniff of Poughkeepsie. Lynne was the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was predeceased by her grandson Christopher.
Her sister, Joyce Alexander of NJ, will fondly remember Lynne's unwavering support and the close bond they shared throughout the years. Lynne's family was the cornerstone of her world, and she was the heart of every gathering, especially known for her delicious chocolate cream pie.
Lynne's commitment to her profession as a nurse at Benedictine Hospital for over thirty years was a testament to her caring nature. She provided comfort and healing to countless patients, earning the respect and admiration of both colleagues and those she served.
A life-long resident of the area, Lynne was deeply involved in her community. She served as the treasurer of the Mt. Tremper Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, exemplifying her spirit of service. Lynne's passion for history and heritage was evident in her active and long-time membership in the Daughter's of the American Revolution, where she made her mark as a past president.
Her dedication to preserving local history was further demonstrated in her role as the secretary of the Hudler Cemetery Board of Directors, where she played a crucial role in digitizing the manual records of burials. Lynne also served as a past Deacon of the Reformed Church of Mt. Tremper, where her faith and leadership were an inspiration to many.
Lynne's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. An enthusiastic camper, she relished the times spent with family at Lewey Lake in the Adirondacks. A gifted genealogist, Lynne delighted in helping others discover their family histories. Her flower gardens were a testament to her green thumb, and her love for her poodles was well-known.
Above all, Lynne was a giving soul, always thinking of others. She persevered through many medical challenges with unwavering strength and grace, embodying resilience. Her strong sense of community and her generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lynne Byron's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, service, and the joy of meaningful connections. Her memory will be treasured forever as a guiding light of compassion and kindness.
