Margaret "Rita" Orr

Margaret "Rita" Orr, known affectionately as Rita to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Lake Katrine. Born on June 27, 1930, in Brooklyn, Rita lived a full and vibrant life that touched the hearts of all who knew her.  Rita was the daughter of the late Spero and Ethel Bromley Cutsogeorge. She was a devoted mother to her son, Charles Orr of Glenford, and sister to her brother, George Cutsogeorge.   She graduated from Jamaica High School, and moved to Glenford in 1960.  She was a volunteer Girl Scout Leader of a cadette troop in Glenford.  

Rita's professional journey was marked by her exceptional work ethic and determination. She began her career as a secretary and, through her diligence and commitment, rose to the position of executive secretary at Huck Manufacturing after twenty-two years of service.  Her colleagues admired her for her professionalism, warmth, and the mentorship she provided to many.  Rita was a talented quilter and a member of the Wiltwyck Quilters Guild, the South Mountain Piecemakers, and the Pins and Needles Ladies.  Rita was inducted into the Catskill Mountain Hall of Fame in 2009.  A woman of deep Christian faith, Rita was involved with St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Kingston. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found great joy in participating in church activities and serving her community.

Rita's interests extended beyond her professional and religious commitments. She was a woman of many passions, and her zest for life was evident in everything she did. Her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration, and her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.
