Marie Stutman, 85, formerly of Broadstreet Hollow died Sunday Jan. 19, 2025 in Brookfield, CT.  She was born in Brooklyn on Feb. 5, 1939 daughter of the late John and Ruth Wilson Baltz.  She worked many years as a bookkeeper for Soda Systems Beverage Co. in New Rochelle.  A resident of Shandaken for more than twenty years, Marie and her late husband Bernie had wonderful raised vegetable gardens.  She was a member and former officer of the Phoenicia Rotary, always bringing a smile and helping hand to all of the community events.  Her compassion and welcoming nature were evidenced by her involvement with the Rotary Youth Exchange Programs over the years.  She was computer savvy back in the 1980's, and willingly shared her expertise in educating others and setting them up with their first systems.  Marie had also been a member of the Town of Shandaken town hall staff, assisting with bookkeeping and clerical duties.  She loved wild life, nature, and her feline companions.

Surviving are two daughters: Stephanie Sordyl of Cortland Manor, and Rebecca Rende of Brookfield, CT. Five grandchildren: Jason and Jessica Sordyl, Ryan, Erica, and Allison Rende , and her sister-in-law Christine Baltz also survive.  She was predeceased by her husband Bernie in 2009, and brother Jerry Baltz in 2021.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Marie will be held on Saturday June 28, 2025.
