Marlene J. Letus, a cherished native and lifelong resident of Lake Hill, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Lake Hill, at the age of 88. Born in Willow on February 24, 1937, to Barnet and Grace Shultis Howland, Marlene was a beacon of love and dedication, known for her nurturing spirit and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.

Marlene's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. As a devoted homemaker, she poured her heart into raising her beloved children, Deborah and Robert Letus, both of Lake Hill, who will continue to honor her legacy through their lives. Marlene is also survived by her brother, Barnet Howland Jr. of Shady, and her sister, Elaine Partington of Florida, along with 2 nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter Letus, and her parents, leaving behind a family that will forever treasure her memory.

With hands that nurtured life, Marlene had a green thumb that brought beauty to the world through her flower gardens. Her gardens were a testament to her patience and care, reflecting the vibrant life she led. Marlene's home was a canvas for her creativity, where she took great joy in displaying her collectibles. Each season brought a new theme, transforming her space into a celebration of the time of year.

Marlene's curiosity and love for her community were evident in her habit of clipping local news stories from the daily paper. She shared these clippings with friends and family, sparking conversations and preserving memories. This simple act was a window into Marlene's desire to stay connected with the world around her and to keep the history of her beloved Willow alive for future generations.

As we bid farewell to Marlene J. Letus, we remember a woman whose life was a tapestry of love, care, and beauty.  Marlene's passing is a reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring strength of the bonds we forge. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her grace and kindness.
