Boiceville, New York -
Mary Ann Christina Ulmer, 82, of Boiceville, NY, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Mary Ann was born June 12, 1939 in College Point, NY, the daughter of the late Rose and Matthew Sczesny. She is predeceased by her brother Matthew. Mary Ann grew up in College Point and married her husband of almost 60 years, Clarke Henry Ulmer. She graduated from St. Catherine’s School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY and enjoyed working as a nurse in a local physician’s office, so she could be close to home raising her children. She later worked for an Infectious Disease practice in Bronxville, NY during the heart of the 1980’s HIV crisis.
She and her husband later moved to Westchester, NY, but cherished weekends in their Boiceville home, affectionately known as “upstate”. Boiceville eventually became their permanent home, where they enjoyed time with family and friends. Mary Ann loved to plant flowers and herbs, cook, watch baseball, take care of her cats, and spend time with her grandchildren, whom she was extremely proud of. She was a faithful Catholic greatly devoted to Saint Padre Pio, and she called St. Francis de Sales of Phoenicia, NY her parish.
She is survived by her husband Clarke, her son Clarke Jr. , daughter-in-law Erica and their daughter Kayla, daughter Christina, son-in-law Errol Ruschil, and grandchildren Marissa, Evan and Noelle.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-9 on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main Street, Phoenicia, NY.
