Norma Louise Hampson, 94, of Olivebridge, passed away on January 23, 2026. Born on 4/27/31, Norma was fiercely independent, industrious, adventurous, and creative. She worked as a teacher, studied landscape architecture, and sailed the world for many years as a ship’s radio operator. She designed and built her own home largely by herself in 1970 and enjoyed her own koi pond and garden, particularly when the masses of daffodils bloomed in the spring. Her creativity extended to multiple craft projects, especially embroidery and quilting. After retiring she continued to travel and went on many cruises.
Norma is survived by her sister, her longtime companion, Bill Cannon, several cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. Appreciation goes to Mark Wagner who provided support during the last years of her life.
Norma’s memorial will be held privately per her request. You may share a special memory, photo, or condolence on Norma’s Tribute Wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com Arrangements are under the direction of the E B Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main Street Phoenicia
