Pamela L. Veitch, known affectionately as Pam to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, in Shandaken, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 13, 1965, in Huntington, Long Island, Pam was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. She was 60 years old.

The daughter of Charles and Michele Hudson, Pam grew up in a loving home where she developed her strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. She was predeceased by her mother, Dolores Weinberg Hudson, when she was just 12 years old, and later by her beloved son, Joe, in 2017. Despite these losses, Pam's resilience and capacity for forgiveness shone through, embodying the heart of gold for which she was known.

Pam's educational and community involvements were a testament to her commitment to preserving history and fostering community spirit. As a charter member and former president of the "Friends of the Farm," she played a pivotal role in saving the historic 1890's Lewis Oliver Farm Sanctuary in Northport. Her volunteer work ensured that the farm's legacy would be cherished for generations to come.

Professionally, Pam was a licensed New York State Real Estate agent for 30 years, demonstrating her tenacity and dedication in a challenging industry. Alongside her husband, Fred Veitch, she owned and operated several businesses in the food service and restaurant industry, showcasing her entrepreneurial flair and her role as a "small business Mom." Pam's work ethic and business acumen were matched only by her commitment to her family and community.  Her family continues her small business tradition at PhoeniciaPizza28.

Pam and Fred's love story was one for the ages.  They have been together since Nov. 14, 1982, and were married July 15, 1984, just shy of 41 years.  Together they raised a beautiful family. She leaves behind her adoring husband, Fred; their children, Christian "C.J." Veitch, Samantha (Matt Fitzpatrick) Veitch, and Zachariah (Leah Schmitz) Veitch; and her cherished granddaughter, Mercy Marie. She was a beloved sister to Charlie and Kevin Hudson, and Katie Hudson Rodgers. Her nieces, nephews, and extended family members also survive her, each carrying a piece of her indomitable spirit.

Pam's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She had a profound appreciation for nature, whether she was tending to her flower gardens, watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds, or foraging for greens to create beautiful Christmas wreaths. Her travels took her as far as Germany to explore her family legacy, but she was just as content at the beach, feeling the sand between her toes and listening to the waves. Pam's sense of community extended to her volunteer work with the Big Indian-Oliverea Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she served with dedication and compassion.

As the matriarch of the family, Pam was the quintessential holiday hostess, bringing everyone together with her warmth and generosity. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through the good times and the bad with unwavering conviction.

Pam's legacy will live on through the lives she touched, the community she nurtured, and the family she adored. Her laughter, wisdom, and boundless love will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Pam was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived and the power of a kind and forgiving heart.

We celebrate the joy she brought into our lives and the enduring impact she made on her community. Her memory will be treasured forever, a guiding light for all who seek to live a life of purpose, love, and grace.  A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Pam will be held on Monday June 2, 2025 from 2pm to 5pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia. Pam appreciated bedding plants that could beautify the garden.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Big Indian - Oliverea Fire Dept.
