Patricia Benjamin Obituary

Oneonta-

Patricia (Pat) A. Benjamin, 92, of The Plains at Oneonta died Wednesday March 25, 2020 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown from a vascular complication. She was born January 3, 1928 in Kingston, NY the daughter of the late Edward and Olive (Terwilliger) Bennett.  A Pine Hill resident from the age of sixteen, she was an activemember of the community: a member of the Green Thumb Sewing Circle, the Ladies Sewing Circle, and Phoenicia Senior Citizens.  After moving to Oneonta, she was a part of the Busy Bees of the Salvation Army and when she was able, she helped to pack meals. She enjoyed travels with her children which included some of her favorite destinations: the Amish Country in Lancaster, PA; and the ocean where she loved to collect sea shells, watch the dolphins, and see the ocean sunrise. Patricia was an avid reader, who enjoyed word searches and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed car rides, flowers, gardening, and she loved fresh garden vegetables! She most recently had attended River Street Baptist Church in Oneonta. Her family was first and foremost, and she was lovingly called "G.G." by her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters: Catherine Johnson of Ghent, NY; Janet Stumph of Kill Devil Hills, NC; Ann Marie (and Douglas) Rogers of Leesburg, FL; and Ellen (and Mark) Edwards of Delhi, NY. Sixteen grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and cousins also survive.  She was predeceased by her husbands Richard Johnson and Stanley Benjamin, and brothers Robert and David Bennett.

Due to the current restrictions, and in the interest of safety, the graveside private family ceremony will be held at the North Marbletown Cemetery with the Reverend Grant L. Smith ministering to the family. For family and friends unable to join us due to the mandates, we encourage you to share a photo or special memory on Patricia's Tribute Page at gormleyfuneralhome.com.
