Patricia Olsen Obituary

Patricia Ann Olsen, known lovingly as Pat and “Grammy” to her grandchildren, passed away on April 7, 2026, in West Shokan at the age of 79.  Pat was born on September 12, 1946, in Kingston, and she spent her early years in Bearsville before making West Shokan her lifelong home. She lived a life rooted in the Catskills, where her steady presence, warm heart, and deep devotion to family and community left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

For approximately seventeen years, Pat owned and operated the Catskill Mountain Cleaning Service, where she was known for her hard work, reliability, and friendly spirit. Earlier in her life, she worked as a waitress in Boiceville, and she later became a beloved school bus driver for Woodstock Transportation. In every role she held, Pat brought kindness, responsibility, and a genuine care for others. She was the kind of person who made people feel seen, welcomed, and valued.

Pat was a devoted wife to Robert Olsen for 62 years, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and shared memories. She is survived by her husband Robert, her daughter Lynn Bush, her sons Christopher and Peter, her sister Donna Ford, and her cherished grandchildren Bobby, Jessica, Molly, and Megan. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Katelyn, Tyler, Aubrey, Ellie, and Tucker, who brought her great joy. She was predeceased by her great-grandson Andrew and her brother John Ziemba.

Family was at the center of Pat’s world, and she was the consummate matriarch. She was always organizing and hosting family reunions, and holiday celebrations, making sure everyone felt included and connected. Her family described her as caring and fun, and as someone who always put other people ahead of herself. She carried that spirit into every gathering and every conversation, creating a sense of home wherever she was.

Pat had many interests that reflected her joyful and nurturing nature. She was the curator of one of the largest teddy bear collections, and each bear had its own individual name. She once had a green thumb in both her vegetable and flower gardens, and she found happiness in caring for growing things. Her happy zone was the Outer Banks, where she loved the beach, the water, and the peaceful feeling of being near the shore. She was always ready for a camping adventure, and she especially enjoyed traveling along the entire East Coast, wherever she and her loved ones could be near the water. She also loved boating on the Hudson River, where she found comfort and delight in the beauty of the river.

Pat’s life was one of devotion, warmth, and simple joys shared with the people she loved most. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her lively personality, and the many ways she made life brighter for her family and friends. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and love for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
