Pine Hill-
Pauline "Polly" Vos, 96, of Elm St. Pine Hill died Sunday May 2, 2021 at the Kingston Hospital. She was born March 12, 1925 in Bridgeport CT, daughter of the late Salvatore and Guiseppina Libertucci DeTomaso. A resident of the Catkill Mountains for fifty years. She had formerly worked in NYC as a commercial artist for various firms including Seligman & Latz Advertising Agency. Polly created community. She presided over Coffee's Ready every Saturday at the Pine Hill Community Center, making her company and her delicious baked goods a draw for anyone nearby. Her laughter and excitement over what was new, or interesting also drew people in. Polly was an artist. She was a founding member of the Pine Hill Community Center Artisans Shop and was exhibiting her imaginative and constantly changing note cards, paintings, embroidered pictures and various crafts. She was a member of the Catskill Crafters. Polly was revered for her ability to innovate with felting and book-making projects. She served on the Community Center's Board of Directors for 20 years. Polly’s ability to stay curious and current gave her a youthful quality and beauty. People often remarked that they would like to emulate her approach to living life with a love of community, creativity, and curiosity. She enjoyed Big Band Era jazz, old movies, and politics. She had a gift for telling and remembering jokes, which bolstered her sense of humor.
Surviving are her daughters: Cynthia and Barbara Vos, brothers: Bert and his wife Julie, and Alfred DeTomaso, grandson Nicholas and his wife Sarah Vos-Wein and great grandchildren Everett and Wren Vos-Wein. She was predeceased by her husband Tom Vos, daughter Susanna Vos.
A private graveside service will take place at the family plot at the Bedell Cemetery in Fleischmanns. A gathering to celebrate the life of "Polly" will be held at the Pine Hill Community Center at a future date to be announced.
