Ramona Meister

Ramona Meister, 85, of Rt. 214 died Tuesday May 26, 2020 at Vassar Brother's Hospital in Poughkeepsie.  A native and life long resident of Phoenicia she was born May 5, 1935 the daughter of the late Raymond J. Dunn and Helen Yerry Dunn.  Her Dad was with the New York State Police Mounted Patrol, and the barracks was next door to their homestead along the Stony Clove Creek.  Ramona worked many years as a paralegal for the Ulster County Department of Motor Vehicles, and then for the Ulster County Family Court.  Later, she did some private work for firms in Kingston.  She was a parishioner of the St. Francis de Sales Church.  She had a green thumb with her rose bushes, enjoyed boating, yard saling,and annual trips to the ocean at Dewey Beach in Delaware.  Above all, she was matriarch and "Nanny" to a beautiful and loving family that adored her.  She will be dearly missed. 

Surviving are her husband of sixty-six years, George Meister, daughter Sheila (George) Brown of Phoenicia, her Grandchildren Miguel (Tricia) Madera of Palenville, Visente (Loris) Madera of Woodstock, Mario (Christine Panas) Madera of NY, NY, Raymona Madera of Woodstock, Cassondra Madera of Phoenicia, Kaitlyn (Russel) Mazzuca of Saugerties, 10 Great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her daughter Shawn Meister in 1997.  

In the interest of safety, and due to the current Executive Order, her service will be private with burial in the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery.  A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at the St. Francis de Sales Church at a later date.  You may share a photo or special memory with the family on Ramona's Tribute Wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com  Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the E.
