Richard H. Hoffman, 93 of Shokan died at his residence on Saturday January 30, 2021. He was born July 23, 1927 in the Bronx, son of the late Richard and Helen Blanche Hoffman. He honorably served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. An area resident for many years, he was a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Olive having retired in the early 1990's. He had an appreciation of nature, and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking the Catskill's. He was a self described 'country-boy' who was comfortable in flannel shirts and tinkering with various small engine repairs.
Surviving are his wife Rose Avery Hoffman, and children: Cheryl Norris, Louise Harlacka, Peggy Jarvis, Hans Hoffman, Chester Hoffman, and Karla Ferguson. He was predeceased by his children Richard and Randina Hoffman and sister Bunny.
A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Richard will take place in the Spring when it may be safer to gather.
