Richard P. Ostrander

Richard Paul Ostrander of Boiceville, NY passed into eternity on October 13, 2023. Born January 15, 1943 in Kingston, NY, he was the son of the late Irving and Helen Ostrander. He served in the Army, was police chief in Woodstock, NY, and last served as Lieutenant in the Ulster County Sheriff's Department. He loved serving his community and was loved by all. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being outdoors. He tried to foster a love for gun safety and outdoor sportsmanship through his role as a board member of the Phoenicia Gun Club. He is survived by his only brother, Bob Ostrander, his wife Sonja Ostrander, son Damien and his wife Stephanie, eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held privately. Interment will be in the Locust Hill Cemetary, Hobart, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the EB Gormley Funeral Home, Main St., Phoenicia, NY.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on his Tribute Wall at Gormleyfuneralhome.com.
