Robert Aley, 83, formerly of Creekside Drive in Big Indian died Wednesday March 17, 2021 at the A.O.Fox Hospital in Oneonta. He was born February 8, 1938 in Big Indian son of the late Orren and Marion Winchell Aley. A native and life long resident, he attended Fleischmanns High School and transitioned to the new Onteora Central School District High School having graduated in 1956. Bobby was a hard worker and a hustler all of his life. He had a varied working career, and enjoyed people. He worked the ice cream parlor at Bryants Store, set pins at the local bowling alley, worked in the kitchen at both Rudy's and Pine Acres in Big Indian, was a member of the cafeteria staff at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center from 1956-1972, was the cashier at the Mountain Drive-In Theater in Hunter, was a clerk at the Hunter Liquor Store and worked thirteen years with the Belleayre Festival. He had been a resident at Stamford Terrace Senior Living since 2015. Bobby Aley was part of the local fabric of the Catskill Mountains, who was honest, sincere, and trustworthy.
He was predeceased by his brother Orren in 2010.
A graveside service will be held on Monday March 22, 2021 at 12 noon at the Mt. Pleasant Rural Cemetery Rt. 28 Mt. Tremper with Rev. Ralph Darmstadt as celebrant.
