Robert Beaulieu

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Beaulieu of Shandaken, NY, on December 5, 2024, at the age of 82.  Robert was born on April 10th, 1942 in Providence, RI to George and  Dorothy (Collins) Beaulieu.  The oldest of six children, Robert is survived by his three brothers Daniel, David, and George; and predeceased by his sisters Roseann and Diane. He also leaves behind many dear friends and loved ones.  

Robert served in the United States Air Force prior to enrolling in the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth where he studied textile chemistry.  For four decades Robert was the professor of textile science at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, New York.  He was passionate about his work.  During his tenure at FIT, Robert held the position of Chairman of the Textile Marketing and Development Department, lead many research projects, and was a leading expert and consultant for the textile industry. 

Robert was admired by many for his sharp wit, fierce intellect, generosity, and independent nature. Upon retirement, Robert followed his dream to leave the city and spend his remaining years in the Catskills, on a mountain, chopping firewood with his dog. He enjoyed cooking for others, making people laugh, and debating politics. Robert was a true character who was loved and will be missed dearly. He will live on in our hearts and memories.
