Ronald Hallinan Obituary

     Ronald P. Hallinan of West Hurley died peacefully Monday March 14, 2022 at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck.  He was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on  May 16, 1932, son of the late Charles and Mary Zajac Hallinan.  Ron was a veteran of the United States Airforce having served during the Korean War.  He continued his service to his country as a member, Quartermaster, and Past President of the Shandaken VFW Post # 2837.  He was a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Training Program, and in addition to having been a salesman for the American Tobacco Company, he was owner and CEO of Mr. Wheelchair Co. that provided sales and services for durable medical devices.  He was truly a people person who was committed to the special needs population through Gateway Industries.  Ron was a parishioner, lector, and usher for the St. John's Parish Holly Hills West Hurley.  He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council.  During his tenure with Knights of Columbus, Ron enjoyed playing his guitar and singing Irish folk music to the delight of many.

      He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years Patricia Ann Driscoll Hallinan in 2010.  Surviving are his sons: Kenneth (Ursula) and Ronald Jr., daughter: Barbara Ann (Andy) Hallinan, Charles Hallinan (brother), Mary Smith (sister), Patrick Hallinan (brother), Daniel Hallinan (brother, predeceased), and Kathlyn Hallinan (sister), and five grandchildren (Amber, Roselind, Kristopher, Grace, and Sean) also survive.  Ron was a devoted grandfather and loved taking his grandchildren on adventures.

     A Memorial Mass  will be held 10 am Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. John's Church Holly Hills with Pastor Tom Kiely as celebrant.  Burial in the Woodstock Cemetery with military honors.  The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Phoenicia Food Pantry, or the W. Hurley Fire Dept.   Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the E. B.
