Shirley M. Schulz, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 92 in Kingston. Born on February 2, 1933, in Middletown, Shirley was a beacon of love and joy to all who knew her.

Raised by her loving grandparents, Fannie and Charles Clauson, Shirley grew up alongside her siblings, Nial, Robert, Richard, and Loretta Bradbury, who all preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her devoted husband, Hugo Schulz, in 2021, and her beloved grandson, Alan Riley. Despite these losses, Shirley's resilient spirit and warm heart continued to shine through.

Shirley is survived by her adoring family, including her son, Hugh Schulz of W. Hurley, and her daughters, Sharon Riley of Jefferson and Carol Carboni of Florida. Her legacy of love extends to her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward. Shirley also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

A resident of Woodstock since 1956, Shirley was an integral part of her community. She was formerly employed at Simulaids Manufacturing in Woodstock, where she was respected for her work ethic and camaraderie. Shirley's commitment to her community was evident through her active membership in the Overlook Methodist Church, the Woodstock Senior Citizens Club, and the Shandaken Senior Citizens Club.  Shirley found great joy in the company of friends at the Left Footers Square Dance Club and was a dedicated volunteer with the Meals-on-Wheels program. Her kindness and willingness to help others were hallmarks of her character.  An artist at heart, Shirley possessed a remarkable talent for oil painting and engaged in various arts and crafts projects. Her creativity also extended to her skills as a seamstress and baker, where her attention to detail and love for the craft were evident in every piece she created.  An avid reader, Shirley's thirst for knowledge and love of stories enriched her life and those around her. She formerly enjoyed camping, where she immersed herself in the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of outdoor life.  Shirley's favorite color was blue, a hue that reflected the depth and serenity of her soul. Known affectionately as 'grandma' to many, her nurturing presence and unconditional love were a comforting embrace to her family and friends.

The warmth of Shirley's spirit and the joy she brought to the world will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and creativity—a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.  A graveside service will be held at the Mt.
