Timothy M. Johnsmeyer, known as Tim to his friends and loved ones, died suddenly on March 12, 2025, in Troy, NY. Born on September 11, 1967, in Bennington, VT, Tim's zest for life and his dedication to his community marked the years he shared with those around him. At the age of 57, he left a legacy of love, service, and joy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Leslie Searle Johnsmeyer, whom he married April 26, 1986 in the Fleischmanns Church, and their children: Timothy (Chelsea) Johnsmeyer of Fleischmanns, Ashley (Nicky) Bouton of Halcott Center, and Kaitlyn (Lance) Beers of Fleischmanns. Tim's role as "Papa" to his five grandchildren, Travis, Tucker, Paisley, Brantley, and Caden, was one of his greatest joys. His Alaskan Malamute Husky Shepherd companion Remi also survives. He was predeceased by his Dad, Gary Johnsmeyer,and his In-laws: Donald and Patricia Searle, who instilled in him the values of family and community that he carried throughout his life.

Having been an area resident for over 40 years, Tim's roots ran deep in the community. His career as a truck driver hauling logs for Greene Lumber of Davenport, NY, was a testament to his hard work and dedication to his craft. Tim's commitment to his neighbors was evident in his community-minded spirit. He served as a past member and former Chief of the Fleischmanns Fire Department for 30 years and was currently a 5-year member and Chief of the Pine Hill Fire Department at the time of his passing.

Tim's love for the outdoors was unmistakable. He relished in hunting and fishing, taking pleasure in the serenity and challenge they offered. His passion for the outdoors extended to riding his side-by-side, where he found both adventure and relaxation. An avid supporter of his grandson's dirt bike competitions, Tim's pride was palpable as he traveled, even to Daytona, to witness the races. His enthusiasm for NASCAR was equally strong, particularly for his favorite driver, Brad Keselowski, who pilots the #6 Ford Mustang.

A true 'first responder,' Tim was always concerned with the safety of others. His dedication to service was not just a job but a calling. He was a man who led by example, showing that the well-being of his community was always close to his heart. Tim's value of time spent with family shone through in his love for camping at the 'lake-house,' where memories were made and laughter was shared.

To his grandchildren, Tim was more than just a grandfather; he was "Papa," a role he embraced with every ounce of his being. His legacy will live on through the lessons he taught, the time he invested, and the unwavering support he provided. Tim's life was a tapestry of love, service, and family, woven together with the threads of joy and kindness.

Timothy M. Johnsmeyer's life was one of purpose and impact, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we say goodbye to Tim, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His spirit will forever be a guiding light to those he leaves behind.

   A Service to Celebrate the Life of Tim will be held on Tuesday March 18th at 11am at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia.  Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the E. B.
