Virgil "Stubby" Curtis Jr., 60 of Newton Avenue died Tuesday August 18, 2020 at the Golden Hill Rehabilitation Center in Kingston. A native and life long area resident, he was born May 7, 1960 in Margaretville son of the late Virgil and Helen Berryann Curtis Sr. A graduate of Onteora High School he was a self employed landscaper. He was skilled at tinkering with small engine repairs, and enjoyed hanging-out with his friend Larry. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and a past lieutenant in the M. F. Whitney Hose Co. in Phoenicia. Virgil was also an attentive care giver to elderly in the neighborhood. He will be missed by many.
Surviving are his daughter Cassie Curtis of Tannersville, brother Gary of Phoenicia, and sister Debbie Simmons of Catskill. Virgil has numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
His graveside service will be held privately at the family plot at the Mt. Pleasant Rural Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday morning from 10 to 10:45am at the E. B.
