Lanesville- Charlotte Becker Benjamin, 98, of Benjamin Road died peacefully Friday February 8, 2019 at the Kingston Hospital. She was born March 5, 1920 in Hunter, daughter of the late George and Ruth Myers Becker. Charlotte was a native, and life long resident of "the mountain-top". She was a member of the Lanesville United Methodist Church, where she took an active role. She taught Sunday School for years, was a member of the UMW group, and for 60+ years she was in charge of the Lanesville Church Suppers, where she, "did it all"! She was a true homemaker, who canned and preserved foods harvested from her vegetable gardens. She had a green thumb in her flower gardens as well. She enjoyed the challenge of a good puzzle, and was a skilled craftswomen who lovingly created home stitched quilts for generations of family members. She was a past president of the Rebecca's Lodge, past member of the Golden Ager's of East Jewett, and volunteered her time in support of the Stony Clove Rod & Gun Club.
Surviving are her daughters:Rose Bush, Charlotte Campbell, Joyce Kolicinski, Mary Masonette, Linda Viestra, Beverly Collins, and Donna Berryann. Her sons:Donald, Elmer Jr., Harold, Edwin, Roger, Carl, Wayne, and Gary. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer in 1974, a son Charles Sr., daughter Evelyn Berry, grandchildren Charlie Jr., Dianne, Sheila, and Amanda. In all, the current report, is that there are 244 in the Benjamin Family.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Charlotte will be held on Friday at 11am at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia. Burial in the family plot at the Maplewood Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home.
