I would like to thank the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home and primarily, Mark Wilsey - The man who makes it all happen! Mark is an outstanding, dedicated professional...I can't provide enough accolades in the performance of his duties. He was there for us and made all the arrangements - from a bitter, cold February night when my father passed to a scorching, hot July afternoon when my mother and father were laid to rest together at the Ulster County Veteran's Cemetery in New Paltz. His coordination with our family and Veteran's Cemetery in providing a Priest and U.S. Navy Honor Guard for my father, a World War II veteran and his wife of 66 years, my mother, was superb! From my family - Thank you Fr Sal and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, but especially thank you Mr. Mark Wilsey in providing us this peaceful and honorable closure. With deepest appreciation and God Bless - Dave LaBarbera
Mark handled my Dad's funeral 10 years ago and now my Mom's funeral this past week. Honestly, he takes care of everything...he thinks of everything...all with the utmost professionalism, but still with a caring, thoughtful way. He makes himself available at all times to answer any and all questions. He is meticulous! I am so grateful...never having to worry if I was forgetting something because he thinks of everything.
Mark was so helpful and kind in the arrangement for my husband’s wake and funeral. It felt like a family member was leading us through this difficult time. He was always open to questions. Thank you Mark and
Steve.
I want to thank Mark for being so patient, going above and beyond to help us during the process of funeral arrangements for my brother. It was done with great care, thoughtfulness, compassion, and dignity. Ever grateful.
Thank you Mark very much for your help and professional services during this difficult time in my life. Your comfort, support and guidance was truly appreciated.
I can't say enough about the help that Mark Wilsey was in are time of need to plan are father funeral. Mark was a great listener to everything thing we had to say and wrote are father and beloved husbands amazing obituary and making sure he touched on everything we said. Mark is also very detailed oriented and made sure every special request we through at him was taken care of and there where a lot. One very special one was that are dad was known by his initials and Mark made sure to have them engraved on his casket and made sure they made a statement.
Mark is very respectful to honor are family's need in this time and to make sure to honor are father in the best way possible.
I just can't say thank you enough for everything Mark did for us.
Words cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for Mark Wilsey! He made the most difficult time in my, life losing my brother to Covid; so easy to navigate. In the midst of his busy day he didn’t hesitate to stop by my home to help me start planning his services. When my emotions took over, he patiently waited while I gathered my self together again. Mark doesn’t just run a funeral home, he is kind and caring. Thank you Mark
I worked with Dr. Anable for almost two years at Samaritan Behavioral Health in CrisisCare (2016 to 2018). I was his case manager for the clients he saw. I learned so much from him and we worked very closely together in helping our patients who we saw in some of the worst times of their lives. I speak of him often and share his wisdom and expertise. He will be missed. Dr. Anable was a very compassionate, understanding and knowledgeable psychiatrist and MD who changed the lives he touch for the better. He helped me be a better person. I am so thankful he was such a pivotal part of my life. I will be forever grateful for my opportunity to work with him.
I am very appreciative to Mark for his kindness and guidance during this difficult time. Mark made this emotional process as easy as possible with his caring, thoughtful and intuitive personality. I highly recommend EB Gormley Funeral Home for Mark’s knowledge, support and easy manner.
I had made contact with Mark Wilsey, prior to my husband Daniel's passing. He was very thorough in helping me to set up a plan that honored our spiritual wishes. When the time came to engage his services, he was truly wonderful in being thorough, patient, kind and immensley helpful in all areas of education, comfort, respect and thoroughness, again. I highly recommend Mark and his business to be able to provide support and guidance during a very tender time. Thank you, Mark
Mark, our family wants to thank you for putting us at ease while going through this difficult time. Your kindness to us was exceptional. My dad would have loved to have meet you. You not only took care of our needs you also educated us on how to proceed with finalizing his affairs. I personally thank you for that.
If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know.
Mark Wilsey, at the Gormley Funeral Home in Phoenicia, has gone above and beyond with respect to all of the funeral arrangements for my father, Martin Schwartz, who passed away during the Coronavirus pandemic, on May 15, 2020. My family and I live over one hundred miles away from Phoenicia and Mark was always available for phone calls since travel was not advised. He answered all our questions and was always patient and sensitive. Mark made numerous phone calls, sent many emails, and filled out many papers in order to set up the burial and to secure the plaque at the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery in New Paltz.
Funeral homes in New York City and the surrounding areas were overwhelmed and were sending bodies to Kingston to be cremated, so Mark drove one and one half hours to deliver the body to a crematorium elsewhere. He then retrieved the ashes and brought them to the cemetery in New Paltz and was present when they were interred, while taps was played. My father was very fond of Mark and his wife and children, and Mark considered him a friend of the family. It was so comforting to have Mark present at the burial during this difficult time, as my family could not be there due to the restrictions imposed during the pandemic. My family and I will be forever grateful to Mark who handled all the funeral arrangements, under extraordinary circumstances, not only in a professional manner, but in a compassionate, giving manner, that is unparalleled.

It was the worst of times and circumstances. I had just heard that i had lost my dear and only brother Paul to the deadly Corona virus and in he chaos that ensued, being 100 miles away, it was near impossible to trace how it happened and more important where was his remains currently.
It wasn't near a fortnight ago that i left him in good spirits in a Staten Island nursing home where doctors recommended he best stay to complete tests on other health issues.
Now it was most important to find his remains, get them cremated and sent up here so to join his Mother and Father in the Woodstock Artists Cemetery.
Countless inquiries to hospitals, doctors, nurses, morgues, funeral homes, elected officials, ended in circles and dead ends. There was no one to blame as they were all overwhelmed with the countless dead and no where to store them while more and more poured in everyday. It was so chaotic that i learned what little detail from a caring neighbor and not from the hospital.
Apparently the nursing home got contaminated and my brother Paul was removed to some outside tent where he passed alone and somewhat anonymous and probably stored in some refrigerated trailer. What terrible news to hear.and worse yet nothing could be done as pictures poured in from newscasts of the unclaimed being buried by backhoe .at Potter's hill on Hart Island joining the other anonymous dating back to the Civil War.
With all hope just about exhausted, enter Mark Wilsey of our local Funeral home here in Phoenicia, N.Y.
All i had to do was to describe in detail my plight and without hesitation he reassured me that he would look into what can be done personally and would keep me posted.
It took not one but two days of phone calls on his behalf to and around N.Y.C. until Mark found an old working colleague who quickly needed certain pertinent information and permission all of which Mark took care of with me and rushed the fax back to New York. The result, God Bless was brother Paul's body was at last found and claimed.
That was not the end of it though. Mark informed me that because of the overwhelming backlog of deceased, Paul had to be transported to Pennsylvania so to be cremated which he was THEN Mark travels personally there to pick up Paul's ashes which are now safely next door and soon will be joining his Mother and Father.
I cannot begin to express the professionalism, the genuine sympathy, the dogged determination, not to mention the unheard of kindness on the part of Mark Wilsey...MY HERO!
It just reaffirms one's faith in humanity when someone goes way out of his way to step up and help others in time of need . Our family will always be indebted to the Wilseys.

I can't say enough about the help, advice, compassion, and service which we received from Mark Wilsey for my mother, Patricia Benjamin's, funeral. At the times in our family's life when we have deeply grieved the loss of a loved one, Gormley's has always been more like a friend than a funeral home; and it is comforting to me that Mark has carried on the level of service that Gene provided for my grandparents and my mother in times past. When hearts are hurting and minds are not able to think clearly, the kind of help we have received has always been a huge comfort. Thank you, Mark, from the Edwards family.
My husband and I were very pleased with everything Mark Wilsey did for us during our very difficult time. He was very helpful in answering questions and giving suggestions.
God bless you Mark for everything you helped our family through in the last couple of weeks making decisions for Moms' funeral. I wasn't able to be there from out of state due to the Corona virus and travel complications, but Ellen kept me up on everything, all of your talks and encouraging words. I am so very thankful to you for being there to assist her and our family at this time. You are like part of our family and Mom is smiling down on you as well. Again...May God bless you and your family.
Mark, Thank you so much for everything you have done for our family. For my son, twin granddaughters, and recently my husband, as well as other family members. Your comfort, support and guidance with everything that needed to be done was outstanding. You guided us through the entire process professionally and, answered any questions we had and took care of many things that took the responsibility off of us. You are always available to still answer any concerns that may come up. The comfort you gave us for all of these hard times was greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your friendship and everything you did for our family.
I am so sorry it has taken me this long to post. My family is no stranger to tragedy. That being said, I can't say enough about how the whole Phoenicia Commun ity that reached out to me and my family in all our darkest days.
The love from the Tiso's Family, Fudge, Damon ,Peter, & Tom Crucet and everyone was beyond belief.
As my first call was to my children, and then to Gormley's Funeral Home. Mark Wilsey brought so much comfort and ease walking us through this hard time. His love and professionalism got us through. From the service at Gormley's to the St. Francis de Sales Church and Hudler Cemetery made Moms last hoorah beautiful. A special thank you to Mom's family at the Phoenicia School. The handcrafted hearts the kids made were beautiful. Thank you to all who supported and showed Mom so much love. I can never repay you all. God Bless.
Mark, the care and kindness you gave in making all the arrangements for my Dad, Jim Barden, made a hard time in life easier to deal with. From writing the obituary, viewing at the funeral home, the church service, military honors, the get together at the parish hall and getting him down to Poughkeepsie to his final resting place was handled with compassion and went so smooth. I’m sure I’m forgetting some things because you took care of so much for us. We were so happy with his “send off” and know he would have been too. In the end it’s all about the love. Can’t thank you enough.
When my sister Laurina left us it was the most trying experience my brother and I had ever encountered. We had never been to area and didn't know where to turn to carry out her services, but the moment we met Mark we knew we had found the very person meant for that special job. It was as if our sister herself had led us straight to him. Mark took his time helping us every step of the way. It was clear that he cares about the people he who have passed and the loved ones they have left behind. Mark will always hold a special place in my heart and I will forever consider him a brother.
With the love and respect

"Thank you so much for the tender care that you took with all of us at Big Hop's funeral. All of our family was deeply touched by how well you handled everything. We all felt very comfortable with every aspect of his wake and service, so much so that we almost wanted to adopt you as a family member. Please feel free to contact us if you need anything. God bless you and your family."
"Thank you for helping my Dad to get to his final resting place at the Gate of Heaven."
"You're one of the angel's among us. The kindness you gave all of us was very comforting and we all thank you."
"I feel you went above and beyond the job in order to help my family through this tragedy. I wanted to tell you how much it was appreciated. You did not behave like a man doing business, rather acted as if it was a member of your own family. Thank you so much."
"I always knew you to be a great person, but now that has been surpassed by a few notches up! You rate very high in our estimations of what an exceptional human being is all about."
"We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for your expert guidance, your comfort, and especially your friendship during this time of sadness. As always, we were completely satisfied with all the arrangements."
"Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our boy. We would not have entrusted his care to anyone else."
"On behalf of my family, thank you for your excellent work. My mom had a wonderful sendoff thanks to you. It must have been one of your more memorable services with a power outage followed by a candlelight church service and topped off with a cemetery downpour, but I think she was trying to let us know that she was there.
You were wonderful with my dad spending as much time as needed to answer his questions and allay his concerns. Your attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I would have never though of nail polish, but Mom always had a gift for picking out a color that received compliments.
My brothers and I all recognized how well suited you are for your career, and I appreciate your guidance in helping me manage some of Mom's final details."
