Lillian Steinfeld Obituary

Halcott Center-

Lillian Steinfeld, 99 of Steinfeld Road, died peacefully Sunday October 28, 2018 at her residence in Halcott Center.  She was born May 19, 1919 in New York City, daughter of the late Theodore and Bessie Gerhardt Danis.  She has been a part time resident of the Halcott Valley since 1958, and a full-time resident in 1980. She and her husband established the Gilead Tree Farm, and they planted thousands of evergreen saplings which have majestically grown on the farm. Additionally, they were instrumental in developing the American Friends of Neot Kedumim, a Biblical Landscape Reserve in Israel.  She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. An enthusiastic English major with a lifelong love of poetry. She was also a devoted student and teacher of the Hebrew language and bible, a proficient Torah reader, a some time copy editor, and a gardener with an interest in botany, who enjoyed nature even from indoors. She was a dear friend to many, a generous hostess and an inspiration to many in her gratitude for life.

Mourning Lillian are: her sons Michael  of New York City  and Joseph of Beacon, her brother Bernard Danis of  Lynbrook NY, and her grandchildren from Israel: Ephrat Gal of Alon, Aviad Uval of Mevasseret Zion, Eliav Uval-Neeman of Mata, and Amitai Uval of Givatayim, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Also several devoted caregivers over the last few years.  Lillian was predeceased by her husband Paul in 2016, her son Jonathan, and her daughter Beth Uval.
