Halcott Center
Robert Johnson of Halcott died Tuesday September 18, 2018 at the home of his grandson Robert and his wife Lynn in Pennsylvania, while under hospice care. He was born September 19, 1925 in Halcott Center son of the late James C. and Deborah Morse Johnson. Bob was deeply rooted and supportive of the Halcott Community. He operated the family's dairy , Meadow Brook Farm for nearly four decades. Starting with just two tractors he continued to build the farm with livestock, silos, and equipment. He was a supporter of the 'free-stall' operation at the farm, and in the Spring season enjoyed the maple syrup they made from the sugar shack. He served as Town of Halcott Supervisor for many many years. He was past president of the Halcott Cemetery and board member again for decades. Bob served as Past Master of the Green Valley Grange #881, and had a great appreciation for the beauty of creation through nature. Bob has been described as a very patient gentleman who was not prone to getting too excited.
Surviving are his wife Norma Todd Johnson, daughter Gloria and her husband Arthur Sadowski, 3 sons: Dan, Kip and his wife Julia, and Tim and his wife Chris Johnson of Halcott Center. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey Faulkner Johnson in 1993. Twelve grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren also survive.
His funeral service will be held on Monday September 24, 2018 at 1pm at the Halcott Church. Burial in the family plot at the Halcott Cemetery. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia.
