Roberta Capone

     Roberta Smith Capone, 99 of Rt. 212 Saugerties died Sunday November 25, 2018 at her residence with her family at her side.  She was born August 10, 1919 in Pine Hill daughter of the late Nora Eignor Smith and Abram Smith who ran a boarding house in the Catskills.  Roberta, better known as "Bobbie", grew up in Big Indian and later married Vincent Capone who predeceased her in 2003.  She was an active member of her community, and was a member of a women's group known as "The Merry Wives"  Roberta worked at Marcrest Lamps in Bearsville, and later at Edo Corp. in Queens, NY where she managed a secretarial pool.  Roberta loved the opera and was active in a parapsychology group along with Edgar Cayce.  She had a great love of gardening, and had been past president of the gardening club in Shokan.  Roberta had a talent for writing poems, and one of her favorites was "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost.  In later years, she and Vincent spent their time near Woodstock, enjoying the simplicity of country life.  

     Roberta is survived by her daughters: Vikki Barbero and Nicoletta (Nikki) Capone, son-in-laws: Irv Finkel and Richard Streiter, her beloved grandson Ian Pallak, and Roberta was "G.G." to her great grand daughters Nadya and Violet Pallak.  We will ALL miss her contagious laugh and her mischievous sense of humor.
