Angelina Valentino Obituary

Phoenicia-

Angelina J. "Angie" Valentino, 91, formerly of High Street died Sunday April 26, 2020 in Westwood, NJ.  She was born March 18, 1929 in Brooklyn, daughter of the late Vincent and Bertha Pizzo DeMarco.  Angie graduated from Sarah Hill High School in Brooklyn, and has been a Phoenicia resident since 1971.  She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and had been involved with CYO functions, and Youth Ministry when her son Anthony was young.  She was an active parishioner of the St. Francis de Sales Parish, and a member of the Sodality of Our Lady of LaSalette.  Angie took great pride in maintaining the Altar Linens, and was part of the ministry that  provided care to the sick. She had a talent for writing beautiful poetry, which she often gifted to family and friends.  She was a   skilled seamstress and had a particular devotion to the Infant of Prague.  She was always there to offer a hand, was a absolute gift to our small parish, and helped to build a genuine sense of community in Phoenicia.  God bless.

Surviving are her sister Frances Belcastro, and many many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband "Tony" manager of Key Bank of Phoenicia in 2003, and her son Anthony a NYS Corrections Lieutenant in 2009, and siblings: Palma Ferrara, Peter, Joseph, Anthony, John, Angelo, Frank DeMarco, and Lucy Ferraro.

In the interest of safety, and due to the NYS Executive Order, a family graveside service will be held at the family plot at the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery with Fr. Raphael Iannone OFM. officiating.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later time.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis de Sales Parish.  To share a special memory or thought with the family, please visit Angie's  Tribute Wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the E.
