Bert Shafer Obituary

Halcott Center-

     Bert Shafer, 82 of Halcott Centeer died Saturday July 17, 2021 at the Grand Barnwell Rehabilitation Center in Valatie, NY.  He was born May 31, 1939 in Passaic, NJ son of the late Jack and Margaret Johnson Shafer.  Bert was a graduate of Ridgewood High Class of '57.  He continued his education in Florida for his Aviation degree as a pilot.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and then to  Pan American Airlines's as a commercial pilot.  In the 1980's  he started his own business in Kingston building his own shed and delivering to the costumers at their  back yard, and became a very successful entrepreneur.  Subsequently, he started dealing with the Amish shed, gazebos, garages as the first dealer from the Amish product in the Hudson Valley area. Brad's Barns & Gazebos on Route 28 Kingston NY.  He sold the business in 2006 to retire.  Bert was a smart intelligence funny and good hearted man.  
       Surviving are his wife of nineteen years, Lourdes Shafer of Halcott Center, his step daughter that he treated as his very own, Arlouh,  and two brothers: Kenneth and Jack Shafer both of NJ.
