Shokan-
Beverly J. Vooris of Shokan passed away peacefully Wednesday August 31, 2022 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born May 19, 1944 in Oceanside, Long Island, the daughter of the late Andrew Bauer and Gladys VanWickler Bauer. An area resident for fifty years, Beverly was a kind person who lived her life guided by her strong faith. She met her husband Franklyn at Grumman where she was a secretary, and it was her beautiful smile that caught his heart. She had a green thumb in her flower gardens, and was a talented crafts person who enjoyed cross stitch, quilting, sewing, and cooking. There wasn't anything she couldn't whip up in the kitchen for her family! She had been a volunteer at the Bennett School, an avid reader, and extensively traveled the USA.
Surviving are her husband of fifty-eight years Franklyn Vooris, and children: Pamela (Daryl) Thrasher, Amanda (Chuck) Heinz, Michael (Sarah) Vooris, Andrew (Lori) Murphy, and Patricia (Tom) Carr. Nine grandchildren also survive. She was predeceased by her sister Gladys Murphy.
Friends will be received on Sunday, September 11 from 5pm to 8pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St. Phoenicia.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Beverly will be held at 11 am on Monday Sept. 12 at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Ashokan Rural Cemetery.
