Doris C Blakely

     Doris C. Blakely, 89, formerly of Mountain Road died Wednesday May 19, 2021 at the Meadows of Brookmeade in Rhinebeck.  She was born September 30, 1931 in Queens, daughter of the late Peter and Anna Kurmes Heinrich.  An area resident for over forty years, she formerly made her home in Queens.  Doris was the consummate hostess who enjoyed cooking, and loved to host family gatherings.  She also would  demonstrate her affection for co-workers at Rotron, by bringing entire meals to share with them, and also volunteering to deliver Meals-on-Wheels to those in need.    She had wonderful knitting and crocheting skills.  Doris had a true sense of community.  She was active at the Olive Library, served as an election day poll inspector, and on the Board of Assessor's Grievance Day Committee.  She has been described as a diehard animal lover, who always had room to offer a home to every dog that crossed her path.  Doris was a focused and loyal woman who gave freely of herself.  

     Surviving are her son Steven Blakely, two daughters: Linda Boice, and Patricia Busener, eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.  

     A gathering to honor and respect the memory of Doris will be held privately.  The family suggests memorial conributions may be made to the Ulster County SPCA.  You may share a special memory or condolence with the family on Doris' Tribute Wall at gormleyfuneralhome.com  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the E.
