Elizabeth "Betty" (Neal) Carr

     Elizabeth " Betty " Carr, 60 of Phoenicia died Wednesday May 18, 2022 at her residence with family at her side.  She was born June 8, 1961 in Catskill, daughter of the late David and Gertrude Benjamin Neal Sr.  Liz (Betty) graduated from Hunter Tannersville Central School and Nassau Community College. Betty enjoyed helping people and was an active volunteer with her son's Boy Scout Troop.  A life long area resident of the Catskill Mountains, Betty  previously worked for Stucki Embroidery and was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Church.  Betty was an active member at the Shandaken Senior Residence in Phoenicia and enjoyed playing mahjong.  Betty valued her community, loved life and her family.  

      Surviving are her son, David C. (Kim) Carr, grandchildren: Wyatt and  Rachel, best friend and caregiver, Donnie Van Valkenburgh; her brothers: David C. Neal, Jr of AR, Kenneth R. Neal of AZ, Bruce E. Neal of Haines Falls, Gerald A. Neal of Shandaken and Dale A. Neal of Lanesville and sister, Nancy A. Holgate of Shandaken and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William 'Billy' and a sister, Joan.
 

   Friends will be received on Saturday from 2pm to 5pm at the Funeral Home.  A memorial vigil service to celebrate the life of Betty will be held during the visitation on Saturday at 3 pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia with Fr. Tom Wilhelm of the St. Franc is de Sales Parish.   Burial will be private at the Shandaken Cemetery.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Phoenicia Food Pantry Church St. Phoenicia 12464.  You may share a special memory or condolence with the family on Betty's Tribute Wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com
