Joan Finch

Joan Avis Finch, died peacefully at home on Monday, August 30, 2021. She was born in Phoenicia on
July 16, 1931 daughter of the late John Van Etten and Nellie Shultis Van Etten. She had been employed
at the Chichester Wood Factory in the 1960s and also worked as a housekeeper at the Four Seasons Inn in
Shandaken for over 20 years.
Surviving are her daughters, Rose Rogers (Ross) and Carol Herdman (Glenn Howard).
Granddaughters, Shana Rafalski (Andrew), Stefanie Lollis (Chris), Alicia O'Brien (Obie), Brianna
Schmidt (Cory), and Cierra Masterson (Shane), and Kara Herdman. Twenty one great grandchildren , 5 great great
grandchildren, 2 sisters, Hilda Knight and Evelyn Ostrander, as well as many nieces and nephews. She
was predeceased by her husband Arlington Finch in 2016, husband Gerald Herdman in 1987. Two sons,
Carl and Terry Herdman, Grandchildren, Eric Guglielmetti, Kaylie Herdman and baby Gerald
Herdman.
A graveside memorial service will be held privately with burial at Mt. Pleasant Rural Cemetery at a later date.  You may share a special memory or condolence with the family on Joan's Tribute Wall at gormleyfuneralhome.com.
